NEW YORK CITY

One week in NYC. We drove up and down from Florida, 30 hours each way. From 30C degrees to minus 5. We loved going through the different states and see the differences.
We visited Washington D.C. and our friends Benedikt and Brianna in Pennsylvania on the way. We drove through rain and storm and tornado and slept in the car by the road side. We had a super good time these weeks. 

En vecka i NYC. Vi körde upp och ner från Florida, 30 timmar varje väg. Från 30 grader till minus 5. Vi älskade att åka genom de olika staterna med dess olikheter. 

Vi besökte Washington D.C. och våra vänner Benedikt och Brianna i Pennsylvania på vägen. Vi körde genom regn, storm och tornado och sov i bilen vid väggrenen. Vi hade super härliga dagar!

We visited Times Square Church 4 times. In the 80's David Wilkersson walked up Times Square and saw all the brokenness and misery that this place represented. There and then he decided to start a church to give these people a hope and the true meaning of life. Today there are 8000 members. Still, when you walk in, you feel the love and care for the broken people and we felt like coming home. No prestige or cool attitude, only love and a sincere desire to serve and honor people and the Lord.

Vi gick till Times Square Church 4 gånger. På 80 talet gick David Wilkersson upp för Times Square och såg alla nedgångna människor och all misär som detta stället var känt för. Då bestämde han sig för att starta en kyrka där för att ge människor hopp och en räddning från detta. Idag är det 8000 medlemmar. Fortfarande, när du går in, känner man kärleken och omsorgen för de svaga människorna och vi kände det som att komma hem. Ingen prestige eller cool attityd, bara kärlek och en äkta längtan att tjäna och ära människor och Gud.

The weekly prayer meeting with 2000 participants. Most of the people arrive 2 hours before to pray.
På tisdagar är det Bönemöte, med 2000 som samlas. De flesta kommer 2 timmar innan för att be.

New York is of course a place where all kind of people gather in the crowded streets, 24/7. Huge variety in nationalities, styles and welfare.

The people we met was very friendly and the city gave an impression of safety even in the middle of the night. We met many homeless people, one that we spoke to said that the citizens of Manhattan treated the homeless very generous. 

Rebecca and Adam met a lonely young guy from South Korea in the church that lived on Manhattan. He didn't speak english but they took him out to a restaurant and told him the gospel. I still wonder, first; how is he living there without speaking english? second; how did Rebecca and Adam speak to this guy??

New York är såklart ett ställe där alla slags människor samlas i trängseln på gatorna, dygnet runt. Otrolig variation på olika nationaliteter, stilar och välfärd.

Människorna vi träffade var väldigt vänliga och vi fick intrycket att Manhattan var ett säkert ställe att vara på även på natten. Vi träffade många hemlösa, en av de vi pratade med sa att Manhattan borna var väldigt generösa mot de hemlösa.

Rebecca och Adam mötte en ensam ung kille från Syd Korea i kyrkan som bodde på Manhattan. Han kunde inte engelska men dom tog med honom till en restaurang och berättade om Jesus och evangeliet. Jag undrar fortfarande, för det första; hur klarar han att leva där utan att kunna engelska? och för det andra; hur pratade Rebecca och Adam med honom??

We loved being in New York, experience the city and to have time to also seek the Lord and spend time with Him in prayer. But when the day came when we were leaving for Florida; at least I was happy. Back to flip flops and swimming costumes instead of winter jackets and boots.

Vi älskade att vara i New York, uppleva staden och ha tid att söka Herren och ta tid med Honom i bön. Men när dagen kom när vi skulle lämna för Florida var åtminstone jag glad! Tillbaka till flip flop och badkläder istället för vinterjackor och boots.
