Homeless or Hopeless

A young man that are living in a car with his mother was here a few days ago. He gave his life to Jesus and was baptized in the backyard by our friend. Then Andreas invited him to read the Bible. He was hungry to learn how to read the Bible, where to start, to ask questions and be discipled. Who is he now? He is a precious child of God; loved and given help to manage life, not a homeless man walking through a miserable meaningless life. They read through the gospel of Matthew and prayed for God to open up the word for a sound understanding. Now this man needs to follow Jesus, learn from Him and obey His word. Jesus is saying ”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life..” (John 10)
God is sending people in our way that need to hear about Jesus. We are so thankful that we know how to help them and how to explain the Gospel to them. Then it’s their choice if they want to follow God or not.

Last week our family was invited to a Christmas party for homeless people in Orlando. A man that Andreas prayed for another day invited us. I would guess there were around 1000 homeless people there. They directed us to the volunteers corner when we came but looked quite surprised when we said we were guests. Right then I realized that we also are homeless. Yes, it effects me to not know where to sleep the next day, but when you trust and walk together with God nothing is really worrying you. We could also see this in the people we met in this place. Some people were in peace, had hope, telling us they lived for Jesus,  and some were totally in despair, hopeless and lost in this world.
When we arrived  around 300 people lined up for the free meal and when we left three hours later the line was the same length. Again I saw the huge need for a savior for this people, to heal them on the inside and save them from the destructive lifestyle they are living.

                                                                                          

En ung man som bor i en bil med sin mamma var här häromdagen. Han gav sitt liv till Jesus och döptes här i trädgården av vår vän. Sedan satte sig Andreas och läste Bibeln med honom en förmiddag. Killen ville veta hur man läser Bibeln, var han ska börja, hade många frågor och ville bli tränad. Vem är han nu? Han är ett älskat barn till Gud som kan få hjälp av Honom, inte en hemlös man som lever ett meningslöst miserabelt liv. De läste genom Matteus och bad att Gud skulle öppna upp Ordet för rätt förståelse. Nu behöver den här killen följa Jesus, lära sig från Honom och lyda Honom. Jesus säger ”Mina får lyssnar till min röst, och jag känner dem, och de följer mig. Jag ger dem evigt liv...” (Joh 10)

Gud för människor till oss som behöver höra om Jesus. Vi är så tacksamma för att vi vet hur vi kan hjälpa dom och hur vi kan berätta evangeliet för dom. Sedan är det deras val om dom väljer att följa Gud eller inte.

Förra veckan var vår familj inbjudna till en julfest för hemlösa, av en man Andreas bad för några dagar tidigare. Jag gissar att det var ca 1000 hemlösa människor där. De pekade mot volontärerna när vi kom och såg ganska förvånade ut när vi sa att vi var inbjudna som gäster. Just då kom jag att tänka på att vi ju faktiskt också är hemlösa. Det är inte alltid lätt att inte veta var man ska sova nästa dag, men när du litar på och går tillsammans med Gud finns det faktiskt inget som riktigt oroar dig. Detta var även tydligt hos många människor vi såg bland dessa hemlösa. Vissa människor vi talade med kände hopp och trygghet och sa att de levde med Jesus och vissa var totalt förtvivlade utan hopp.

När vi kom stod ca 300 människor i kö för att få gratis mat och när vi gick tre timmar senare var kön lika lång. Åter igen såg jag hur stort behovet är av någon som kan rädda dessa människor, hela dom på insidan och rädda dom från den förgörande livsstilen de lever.

What shall we do?

The people asked Peter and the rest of the apostles: Men and brethren, What shall we do?
Then Peter said to them: “You need to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.

When we meet people that truly repent in their hearts; understand that they have sinned towards God when they followed their own and the world’s desires instead of His, and ask Him for forgiveness and start to follow Him instead, it’s time for baptism!
The Bible says the baptism is when we die with Christ and rise with Him to a new life. We are no longer slaves to sin! (Rom 6)

We are back in St. Pete again for baptism!!
We were telling the gospel to a couple of people that came to the house we are visiting and we read together in the Bible what it says about repentance and baptism. I love when people ask questions, when people are interested and want to know the truth. The woman said “I am so ready, I will just jump in!”

Folket frågade Petrus och de andra apostlarna: ”Bröder, vad skall vi göra?”
Petrus svarade dem: Omvänd er och låt er alla döpas i JESU Kristi namn, så att era synder blir förlåtna. Då skall ni få den helige Ande som gåva.”

När vi möter människor som verkligen vänder om; förstår att de syndat mot Gud när de valde sina egna och världens begär istället för Guds, ber Gud om förlåtelse och börjar följa Jesus istället, är det dags för dop!
I Bibeln står det att dopet innebär att vi dör med Kristus och blir levande med Honom till ett nytt liv. Vi är inte längre slavar till synden! (Rom 6)

Vi är tillbaka i St. Pete igen för dop!
Vi berättade evangeliet för några som kom till huset vi besöker och vi läste vad det står i Bibeln om omvändelse och dop. Jag älskar när människor har frågor, när de är intresserade och vill veta sanningen. En av de vid bordet sa ” Jag är så redo! Jag hoppar i nu!”

Divine meetings

A few days ago we were invited to a family to speak about Jesus. I love when we see how God has planned everything in beforehand. It was so clear that they needed exactly this right now. A friend to the family came while we were there, telling us that he recently understood that christians can see miracles and pray for the sick so they get healed. But he didn't know how to do it and had never seen anyone being healed or met anyone who could explain for him. He was extremely hungry to learn :-)

Today God was leading again! Adam and Andreas took this guy to teach him how to pray for the sick. They, in an amazing way, ended up at a shelter for homeless people where this man got to pray and see his first healing. He was amazed!
More than one of the men at the shelter said they prayed this week for God and healing to come to the shelter, and now you came with this, they said! Divine meetings with broken people, while discipling a brother. I like!

För några dagar sedan var vi inbjudna till en familj för att berätta om Jesus. Jag älskar när Gud planerar och har en plan med vad vi gör! Det var så tydligt att de behövde precis detta just nu. En vän till familjen kom medan vi var där, och berättade att han nyligen förstått att vi kristna kan se mirakel och be för sjuka så att de blir friska. Men han visste inte hur han skulle göra det och hade aldrig sett någon bli helad eller mött någon som kunde visa honom. Han var otroligt pepp på att lära sig mer!

Idag planerade Gud igen. Adam och Andreas tog ut denne mannen för att lära honom hur man ber för sjuka. Dom hamnade på ett fantastiskt sätt på ett härbärge för hemlösa, där denne mannen fick be för någon och se ett helande för första gången, han var chockad, förvånad över att det var så enkelt. Fler än en person på detta härbärge berättade att de bett de senaste dagarna att Gud och helande skulle komma till deras härbärge, och nu kom ni med det, sa dom. Övernaturliga möten med behövande människor, samtidigt som en broder lärjungatränas. I like!

It's not always as it seems

Today we drove to Daytona Beach. What a beautiful beach! We walked in the sand, took pictures and swam in the ocean. But soon we noticed that the people around us were not as perfect as the surroundings. Broken, homeless, poor people. Many were drunk or high already early in the day.
We spoke to people about Jesus, that there is a solution for the struggle, emptiness and hopelessness.
When we speak to people here many already believe in God. They believe He exists but they don't follow him or have a relationship with him. If they only knew that Jesus can help them!!
So we ask them if they want us to pray for anything; sickness, pain, problems... and almost everyone respond with a yes! Then we tell them the gospel; that Jesus wants a relationship with them and He can help them to be free from their struggles because He already took the penalty for our sins when He died for us on the cross.
Many people here are going to church but they don't believe in the supernatural and in the power of God and can't live a life in freedom because of that. So they are still stuck in sin and, as these people we met today; slaves to drugs, alcohol, self pity and emptiness.


Idag åkte vi till Daytona Beach. Vilken underbart vacker strand! Vi promenerade längs vattnet, fotade och badade i havet. Men vi såg också att människorna längs stranden inte såg lika perfekta ut som omgivningen. Utstötta, hemlösa, fattiga människor. Många var fulla eller höga redan tidigt på dagen. Vi berättade för dom om Jesus, att det finns en lösning på deras problem, tomheten och hopplösheten. Många människor här tror redan på Gud. De tror på att Han finns men de följer Honom inte och känner Honom inte. Om dom bara visste att Jesus kan hjälpa dom!!
Så vi frågar dem om de har något de vill att vi ska be för; sjukdom, smärta, problem... och nästan alla svarar ja! sedan berättar vi evangeliet; att Jesus vill ha en relation med dom och att Han kan hjälpa dom att bli av med deras problem för Han har redan tagit straffet för våra synder när Han dog för oss på korset.
Många människor här går till kyrkan men dom tror inte på det övernaturliga och på Guds kraft och kan därför inte leva ett liv i frihet. Så de är fortfarande fast i synd, som de människor vi mötte idag; slavar till drogerna, alkoholen, självömkan och tomhet.

Thanksgiving

Our first celebration of Thanksgiving! So many things to be thankful for.

God led us to a family in St. Petersburg (Florida) where we stayed for 11 days. On Thanksgiving they took us to an orphanage where they brought food and we played with the children and shared about the life with Jesus. 

I love the mentality of this family, they live for others, for helping others to a new life with Jesus. They have 9 children of their own, a few of them are adopted and a few still foster cared. They encourage other families to foster children in need and work to involve the churches in the process helping the mothers manage to get the children back.

We were very encouraged in seeing and experience their hospitality, humility and love to God and people around them.

We had the opportunity to baptize their daughters while being there, and also joining in activities together with them as visiting and praying for neighbours and friends. 

Vår första Thanksgiving! Det finns så mycket att vara tacksam för.

Gud ledde oss till en familj i St. Petersburg där vi stannade i 11 dagar. På Tacksägelsedagen åkte vi med dem till ett barnhem dit familjen tog med sig mat till alla barn. Vi lekte med barnen och berättade om livet med Jesus.

Jag älskar hur föredömlig denna familjen är, hur dom lever för andra, för att hjälpa andra till ett bättre liv med Jesus. Dom har nio barn, varav några är adopterade och några fortfarande är fosterbarn. Dom uppmuntrar och stöttar andra i att ta hand om fosterbarn och jobbar för att kyrkor ska involveras i processen där mödrar till fosterbarn kan få stöd och kunskap om Jesus så att de kan få sina barn tillbaka. 

Vi blev verkligen uppmuntrade av att se och uppleva gästfriheten, ödmjukheten och kärleken till Gud och människor runtomkring, från denna familj.

Vi hade förmånen att få döpa deras döttrar medan vi var där, och även besöka grannar och andra som de kände där vi kunde berätta om Jesus och be för människor.

God is directing our journey

We were planning on staying in North Carolina for three months, but God changed our plan, as He often has done before. We stayed for three weeks.
North Carolina is a very beautiful state, with national parks and a lot of beautiful forest, mountains and trees. During our time here we got to know many new friends and had good opportunities to share with other people about Jesus.
When you stop someone... actually you do not have to stop anyone here to speak because everyone speaks to you wherever you go, but when you speak to most people here they say they believe in God. It is such a difference from the country we are from.
Andreas was out running one day and spoke to everyone he passed in the trail about Jesus, and everyone was thankful and happy to be prayed over. Isn't that wonderful!

A few days later Adam and another guy were invited to a home where a woman (who they had met just the day before) invited friends to come to hear the gospel. Adam and his friend prayed for many people that were healed that night, they shared the gospel and also baptized a lady. The day after another lady from the night before came to our place to be baptized.

This is what we love, to be invited to homes and share the truth about Jesus, see the power in the gospel. Then we also want to continue, to start a gathering in their home to disciple them and also to reach out to others in their network.

We are thankful to God for the people we met in North Carolina :-)

Today we are driving down to Florida, buying a car, and again we have to decide:

to Walk by faith!

The traffic is full of Jesus here!!

Trafiken är full av Jesus här!

Vår plan var att stanna i North Carolina i tre månader, men Gud ändrade vår plan, som Han ofta gjort förut. Vi stannade i tre veckor.
North Carolina är en vacker stat, med national parker och mycket vacker skog, berg och träd. Under vår tid här fick vi många nya vänner och hade stora möjligheter att prata om Jesus med andra människor.
När du stoppar någon... eller du behöver faktiskt inte stoppa någon för att prata här för alla pratar med dig vart du än går, men när du pratar med någon här säger de flesta människor att de tror på Gud. Det är stor skillnad att evangelisera här jämfört med Sverige.
Andreas var ute och sprang en dag och pratade med alla han passerade i spåret om Jesus, och alla var tacksamma och glada för att han bad för dem. Är inte det fantastiskt!

Några dagar senare blev Adam och en vän hembjudna till en kvinna (som de mött dagen innan på gatan) som bjöd in sina vänner för att de alla skulle få höra evangeliet om Jesus. Adam och hans vän bad för flera personer som blev helade den kvällen, de berättade evangeliet och de döpte en kvinna i badkaret. Dagen efter kom en av de som varit där till vårat ställe för att även hon ville bli döpt.

Detta älskar vi, att bli inbjudna till hem och få berätta sanningen om Jesus, se kraften i evangeliet. Sedan vill vi också fortsätta, starta samlingar i deras hem för att undervisa dem och också nå ut till andra i deras omkrets.

Vi är så tacksamma till Gud för alla människor vi fick träffa i North Carolina :-)

Gå i tro!

On our way again...

Sitting on the air plane to New York, thinking about how my life has developed. 

I just received a phone call at the stop in Helsinki airport where a young man told us that he now had counted the cost, spent time in the Bible and now decided; ”I am ready to be baptized, I want to do it now!”.

This is why we continue. This is worth it all. To be there when someone decides to leave the old life behind and follow Jesus Christ, it is amazing!

Now he needs to be trained, grow. He needs a lot of milk so he can grow and soon eat some meat. That is discipleship.

We sat down at the airport praying for him, for protection.

I am wondering what God has in store for us in the USA. We only want to go where He wants us, so this is exciting!

This is what our lives are about now; to walk by faith, often without knowing Gods plan beforehand. We walk on water – and it is possible!

Jag sitter på flyget till New York och tänker på hur mitt liv har blivit.
Jag fick precis ett telefonsamtal vid mellanlandningen i Helsingfors, där en ung kille sa att han nu hade beräknat kostnaden, läst Bibeln och nu beslutat; "Jag vill döpa mig, jag vill göra det nu!".
Detta är varför vi fortsätter. Det är värt allt. Att få vara med när någon beslutar att lämna det gamla livet och följa Jesus Kristus, det är fantastiskt!
Nu behöver han växa. Han behöver mycket mjölk så att han växer så att han snart kan äta kött. Det är lärjungaskap.
Vi satte oss ner på flygplatsen och bad för honom, för beskydd.
Jag undrar vad Gud har för plan för oss i USA. Vi vill bara gå dit Han vill att vi ska gå, så detta är spännande!
